Beside the annual programme of monthly talks and feature presentations, the Society offers its members visits to places and sites of interest. It is actively engaged in local research and runs a series of projects involving local history and heritage.

Heritage is a living entity - to be understood, shared and enjoyed. Our understanding of how people have shaped their communities and interacted with them deepens through research and the sharing of the knowledge uncovered by that research - and yet there is still so much more to discover about the past. An equally huge challenge is to track changes which are taking place in this century, and to record them for future generations.
